Christmas 2011 at Hazelwood Church

Christmas is always a special time at Hazelwood Church.  In 2011 we held our Carol Service on 18th December when over 150 people packed the church for a service of lessons and carols.  A specially convened choir led the singing and contributed several special items.

The following evening, the same choir (and others), sang Christmas carols at three homes in the village where neighbours had gathered to enjoy an informal evening to celebrate Christmas.

On Christmas Eve, the church again welcomed everyone to share in the traditional midnight service and on Christmas Day there was a morning Communion service.

To prepare for Christmas, the church had been decorated.  A huge Christmas Tree (courtesy Robert and Jean Walker) was placed at the front of church, suitably decorated and lit.  All the window sills were decorated with greenery and candles, and more greenery and candles were placed in the arches at the back of church.  Wonderful Christmas displays were created for the font and chancel, and a Bethlehem stable scene was placed at the entrance to the church.

A big "thank you" to everyone who contributed in any way to our celebration of Christmas!  The images below will give you an idea of how the church looked this year.
